Ooh la la XXX Search!

At WebKite we’re big supporters of search engine alternatives to behemoths like Google and Bing. The latest alternative search engine to launch is Search.xxx, the first .xxx only search engine.  Created by ICM Registry, Search.xxx is a simple and discreet looking search engine that serves up strictly .xxx sites. It’s one of the first of its kind and while the content is novel, it speaks to the latest trend happening throughout the Internet.

The creation of an adult search engine was spurred by Google’s algorithm changes that ranks these sites lower than scientific pages or news articles that match sex terms. Google’s gotten so large that if you can’t beat them, and they don’t like the content you’re serving, you’ll just have to go and make your own search engine. ICM Registry did just that. According to The Verge, Search.xxx does use an algorithm similar to Google PageRank that weighs sites according to how many other sites link to them. “Just like Google will penalize people for trying to outsmart the ranking system, we will do the same,” said Stuart Lawley, CEO of ICM Registry.

Despite its sensational nature, the creation and launch of Search.xxx means more to the search culture than it seems. For the longest time search has been a silo; all search engines sifting through the same content serving you, the user, the same sort of content. As new extensions are added to domains, this opens up the door to separate sites that avoid traditional ranking and band together to create an entirely different Internet. An Internet with different search rules, search engines, and content.

Inventory-based advertising is a better way to advertise

Since we're generating specific ads based on a business' inventory, ads are only shown to customers that are ready to buy those products.

This mitigates waste and ensures that you only get clicks that have a better chance of leading to a sale. Inventory-based ads help you skip past the bartering and get right to the sale. Meaning you can spend less time maintaining ads and more time taking care of your business.
